National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP)

Each year the National Science Foundation awards approximately 1,000 three-year Graduate Fellowships. NSF Fellows are expected to contribute significantly to research, teaching and industrial applications in science, mathematics and engineering.

You do not have to be accepted to a graduate program to apply and being awarded an NSF Fellowship can enhance your graduate school applications.  If you have previously been awarded an NSF REU and have plans for graduate school, please consider applying.

Guidelines

Applications are welcomed from students in the sciences and women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. or permanent residents.

Fellowships are awarded for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees in the fields of science (natural, physical and social), mathematics and engineering. Awards are also made for work toward a research-based PhD in science education. Practice-oriented programs are not eligible for support. Research with disease-related goals is also not eligible for support.

The National Health Service Corps Scholarship is a program run by the US Department of Health and Human Services scholarships for health professions (MD, DO, DDS, PA).  Minimum two-year service obligation. May 15 deadline.

Immigrant Justice Corps Community Fellowship

The Immigrant Justice Corps Community Fellowship is a two-year, full-time fellowship with full salary and benefits. You will become a partially accredited representative through the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Access Programs, which allows you to represent clients in legal matters before the Department of Homeland Security. Deadline in March.

Luce Scholars Program

The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship that offers early-career leaders immersive, professional experiences in Asia. We aim to forge stronger relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia. Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 Luce Scholars each year, and welcomes applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields. Open to both U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Campus application deadline is in early October for review and feedback prior to the national deadline of October 15. Knight-Hennessy Scholars

Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive full funding to pursue any graduate degree at Stanford University. This includes the JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS, and PhD programs, as well as all joint- and dual-degrees. Open to all students; citizens and non-citizens. (Visit website for deadlines).
